　　Good morning.

　　Today I will talk about Thanksgiving. The reason I am speaking about Thanksgiving and not my friends is because they do not celebrate it in their countries. Australia, Mexico, Albania. Thanksgiving is not celebrated in their countries. Other countries do not celebrate the festival. Thanksgiving is a holiday that is celebrated mainly in the United States and Canada.

　　Thanksgiving is celebrated in November. On the fourth Thursday. This year, Thanksgiving is on November 27th. Thursday is Thanksgiving.

　　The first Thanksgiving. People from England and the Indians from America celebrated the first Thanksgiving in Massachusetts in 1621. The people from England were new to America. They grew a lot of food. They were happy to have the food and shared it with the Indians.

　　Now we eat a lot of food, but we also give thanks on Thanksgiving. We are thankful for the food that we grew that year. The food from the farmers. But, we also give thanks for other things. Our family, our friends, and any thing you are thankful for.

　　In America many people go home for Thanksgiving. It is a holiday. Many businesses are closed. No school on Thanksgiving. And many families have a big meal on Thanksgiving.

　　My family eats lunch together on Thanksgiving. My cousins, aunts, and uncles will eat at my parent’s house. When my grandparents were alive we ate at their house. The families talk about the menu a week before Thanksgiving. Each family knows what food to bring. We all sit around a long table and eat.

　　Turkey is the popular meat. We eat a lot of turkey on Thanksgiving. 46 million turkeys are eaten each year for Thanksgiving in America. Though one turkey is not eaten. It is sent to the White House and the President saves it. No body will eat that turkey. It is sent to a farm and can live in peace. Pretty nice, huh.

　　My family (and many others) also eat ham for Thanksgiving. Mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, broccoli, salad and stuffing- which is made from bread or cornbread.

　　For desert: pumpkin pie, sweet potatoes with brown sugar and butter, and other cakes, pies, and cookies

　　To drink: iced sweet tea and maybe wine. The children will probably drink sweet tea or soda.

　　These are some of things my family eats and drinks.

　　After eating we will talk, or watch American football or a movie on TV. Parades are also popular on TV at Thanksgiving. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade is the most popular on TV. It is in New York. It is three hours long.

　　I hope one day you can visit America and experience Thanksgiving. It is a great time. And you can eat a lot of food.
